WEEKLY RECAPS

04/20-Hinsdale South

Oak Park, IL- On Andrew Hagins day, the Huskies overpowered Hinsdale South cruising to a 13-2 victory in 5 innings. 

How it happened: The Huskies got on the board first after a Grand Slam by Brady Green. 

Hinsdale South answered with two runs of their own after a handful of walks. 

In the second inning the HUskies put two more on the board before the offense exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth. A single by both Andy Koch and Ryan Slade, paired with a two run shot by Ethan Moore helped provide to that seven run inning. 

Johnny Nelson started for the Huskies. He went two innings, allowing zero earned runs and one hit. Peter Farren came in relief for the Huskies, going three innings giving up zero runs and two hits. 

Box score notes: Ethan Moore (1) and Brady Green (4) each homered on the day. Lissuo collected two hits for the Huskies going two-for-three. The eyes were good for the huskies as they were walked 8 times. Brady Green, Mason Phillips, and George Holland all had two walks each. 

On deck: The Huskies will kick off a three game series against Hinsdale Central, starting Monday.   

04/18-Downers Grove North

Oak Park, IL- Another heartbreak for OPRF as they fall 4-2 to Downers Grove North. 

How it happened: The Trojans opened the scoring in the first after a Brady Schallmoser single. 

Mason Phillips evened the score at one after a double in the bottom of the fifth. 

A Jimmy Janicki home run gave the lead back to the Trojans in the top of the sixth. 

A wild pitch helped George Holland score and tie the game back at two. 

A two run single by Janicki helped secure the game for the Trojans. 

Tomlinson earned the win for the Trojans, giving up two hits and one run over one and one third innings. Wilson Kruse started the game for the Huskies, giving up five hits and one earned run over five innings. He was relieved by Luke Gotti who went two innings surrendering two runs. 

Box score notes: Mason Phillips went 2-for-4 on the day, with one RBI. The one-two punch of Joseph Leshnock and Johnny Nelson provided two hits of each. 

On deck: The Huskies will host Hinsdale South on Andrew Hagins Day. 

04/17-Morton

Berwyn, IL- OPRF's offense too much for Morton as the Huskies easily handle the Mustangs 15-5 at Morton West High School. 

How it happened: Peter Farren helped plate the first run in the top of the first after drawing a walk. Ryan Slade then cleared the bases wit a 3-RBI double.

In the bottom of the second Morton capitalized on walks to take the lead 5-4

In the top of the third Oak Park took a commanding lead, scoring six runs on three hits to take a 10-5 lead. 

The Huskies used four pitchers through the game.  Declan Drumm led things off, going one inning giving up zero hits and three runs off five walks. Miller Peters was first out of the pen, going one inning giving up two runs off two hits with two walks. Gus McNulty and Quin Brigham each went two innings allowing zero runs and three strikeouts.      

Box score notes: Oak Park collected nine total hits in the game. Ryan Slade, Ethan Moore, and Mason Phillips each collected two. This is Moore's fifth consecutive game with a hit.  

On deck: The Huskies will Downers Grove North for game three of the series Thursday Night. 

04/16-Downers Grove North

Downers Grove, IL- Late game offense enough for Downers Grove North Trojans as they take game two of the series against the OPRF Huskies at Legion Field.

How it happened: The Trojans jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the second after a pair of triples by Jude Warwick and Nick Konopiots followed by a home run by Jimmy Janicki gave DGN a 4-0 lead. 

A string of hits and walks allowed the Huskies to make it a game going into the top of the fifth. In the top of the fifth, the Huskies tied the game at 5 with a Johnny Nelson double. 

The Trojans flipped the script in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 5 runs. Defensive mistakes to blame for the Huskies in that inning and they were unable to recover. The game was then called due to darkness. 

Daniel Kane started for the Huskies. He went one and two-thirds innings giving up five hits and four runs while striking out one and walking five. Tommy Majchrowicz got the start for the Trojans. He went four innings, allowing six hits and five runs.  

Box score notes: Johnny Nelson and Ethan Moore continued their hot streak each collecting hits. Nelson went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs while Moore went 2 for 4 with one run scored. 

On deck: The Huskies will visit the Morton Mustangs tomorrow at Morton West High School.

04/15-Downers Grove North

Oak Park, IL- Defense battle falls in favor of the Downers Grove North Trojans Monday night at the OPRF Baseball Field    

How it happened: Downers Grove North scored the first two runs in the top of the 7th after a single by JD Cumbee and a double by Jude Warwick. Each scored one run.

Ben Llewellyn started on the bump for the Trojans. The starter went the distance, allowing two hits and zero walks, striking out 13 and walking none. On the other side, Cole Benson started for the Huskies. The Right-handed starter went four innings, giving up zero runs on two hits. Benson also struck out 6 and walked three. Luke Gotti came in relief and provided three innings. In those three innings, he allowed two runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one. 

Box score notes: Brady Green and Ethan Moore provided the Huskies only two hits of the day. 

On deck: The Huskies will visit the Trojans for game 2 of the series tomorrow at Legion Field.
